LSU Opens SEC Play This Weekend

LSU emerged from its non-conference portion of the schedule (see: cupcake) at a perfect 3-0 record. Now it puts that record up to its biggest challenge this season, as the Tigers travel to Mississppi State this weekend to take on the Bulldogs.

This game has all the makings of a classic reverse-trap game. Instead of coming off a big win, the Tigers could get caught looking ahead to their two weeks after this one - matchups with #23 Georgia and #1 Florida await.

LSU has posted dominating wins over their three opponents thus far in the season - Washington, Vanderbilt, and Louisiana-Lafayette. Washington may have just become an attention grabbing win after the Huskies’ unpredictable win over #3 USC last weekend in their Pac-10 opener.

LSU and Mississippi State are set to kick off at noon on Saturday.

LSU escapes Washington, 31-23

The LSU Tigers escaped Washington and what could have been a lot of angry fans in a 31-23 road win over the pesky Huskies.

The Tigers went just 8-5 last year after losing a lot of the core of their team that helped them win a national championship back in 2007-2008 under head coach Les Miles.

Miles was given a pass for last year’s struggles given the roster turnover, but the head coach knows it won’t always be like that for a team presiding from SEC country.

Quarterback Jordan Jefferson played very well for the Tigers, throwing for 173 yards and three touchdowns. He also didn’t throw an interception, and coaches love guys that don’t make the costly mistakes.

Jefferson has a lot of help at the wide receiver position, which is probably the deepest part of this LSU team.
